2009 has started off on a bad musical-foot for me as I just downloaded Moz's new album Years Of Refusal and it's so bad it makes Ringleader sound good. It's really kind of embarrassing. Every aspect of it stinks:
- the music (Whyte, Boorer and Tobias are all guilty)
- the vocal melodies (or lack thereof)
- the lyrics (same old tired subject matter, with less wit than ever)
- the production (and I had actually liked Finn's production on Quarry)
Such a bummer since Quarry was one of his finest albums ever, and that wasn't really that long ago. Moz needs to just go away for a long time and "dream it all up again"; but of course he won't cause he's having more success in the UK than ever before.
That being said, we've got a lot of albums to look forward to this year (in alpha order):
dude, the moz is good. we must have been listening to different albums.

The new Starsailor is actually pretty good (for them).
Their last couple albums have su-ucked, so who knows - they might be back!

Don't forget a new Rifles record this year. They rocked opening for Weller last fall.
