Keane have made a song from their upcoming album available for download:
- "Spiralling" (Radio Edit) [3:27]
What do you think? It's a lot different from anything they've ever done before. Musically it's very mid '80s Duran Duran / David Bowie with its synth-horns spikes and chant-like "Oh!" refrain. I could do without the spoken-word bit at the 2:13 mark. Tom Chaplin has previously described the song as "a train of thought about human endeavor, built on an outrageous groove."
Their new (3rd) album, Perfect Symmetry is out in the UK on October 13th, producers/collaborators include Jon Brion, Stuart Price, Andy Green, Jesse Quin. The proper 1st single in the UK will be "Lovers Are Losing" on Sept 29th.
I like it. It has a nice fun vibe to it and really makes me wonder what the rest of the album will sound like. I've always enjoyed that mid 80's sound so this is right up my alley.
It is really funny to listen to this track back to back with some of the last album. Quite a 360.

first record: hated keane
second record: heard "is it any wonder" and my ears perked up
this single: i'm in love. this single is pure pop brilliance. stuart price should be careful as he'll be hearing from stock/aitken/waterman about infringement soon.
