Here's the press-release:
Morrissey has signed an exclusive world-wide recording contract with Decca. All releases will be marketed and promoted through Polydor UK. Since the disbanding of The Smiths in 1987 Morrissey’s 20-year solo career has established him as one of the UK's greatest musical talents with a back catalogue of
eleveneight albums, most recently 2006’s UK #1 Ringleader Of The Tormentors. The first release under this new contract will be a Greatest Hits album of Morrissey solo material with two new songs in February '08, which will follow a run of European shows.
Morrissey is currently recording a new studio album in LA, working once again with Jerry Finn, the producer of 2004's widely acclaimed UK #2 album You are the Quarry. The as yet untitled new album will be released in Autumn 2008.
No word what on which 2 new songs it will include, but it looks like "That's How People Grow Up" will be one.
His new feud with NME is somehow bizarre again... I thought both parties would be way past this kind of behaviour by now.
I don't think Morrissey is a racist but he clearly has some opinions that are somewhat Conservative or slightly "right-wing"-ish. And they are quite boring opinions, I think. He's being a boring nostalgic old man.
This is exactly why the general rule for pop stars should be to keep away from politics (I know you might disagree on this, though?).

Moz might not be an overt racist, but yep, as you say, he definitely has some right-wing-nut-job type views. He's expressed them over the yeard not only in interviews, but also in on-stage banter and in the lyrical content of some songs.
