Out in the UK on Monday
Here's the notable stuff that's out in the UK on Mon July 9th.
Albums:
Cherry Ghost - Thirst for Romance [Debut from Manchester 5-piece.]
The Enemy - We'll Live And Die In These Towns [Debut from Coventry trio.]
Singles:
The Hours - "Ali In the Jungle" [Vid. Re-release of 3rd single from their great debut album.]
Travis - "Selfish Jean" [Vid. 2nd single from their great new album.]
Brett Anderson - "Back To You" [Live Vid. 2nd single from his lackluster debut solo album.]
The Dykeenies - "Clean Up Your Eyes" [Vid. 2nd single from Glasgow 5-piece.]
Liking that Dykeenies track. From the couple tracks i've heard they look pretty promising.

yeah, I think they might end up being a bit too much on the emo side though?

Yeah. I think its a fine line there and I'm hoping it doesn't go that way.

Selfish Jean is one of the finest songs this year! As is Ali In The Jungle - I hope it gets more recognition this time around.

I'm kinda shocked with the choice of Selfish Jean as the 2nd single. I like it, but I didn't think it was single-worthy....doesn't sound like something people (read as: idiots) would "get"

Hmm, I don't know about that. Maybe you're unfortunately right. But it's a fantastic song and somehow I predict it could be Travis' biggest hit since who-remembers-when. We'll see this weekend.
The video is so awesome I had to get the t-shirts ("Art/Music/Jaffa cakes" and "Aaaaahhh. Selfish Jean"). ;-)
