Noel Phoner - Definitely Maybe
A phoner with Noel Gallagher tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon. Definitely. Maybe.
Jesus, what the hell to ask?
Help.
Oh, and what timing.
The band release their greatest hits album Stop The Clocks in November and Noel admits doing the brunt of the promo work has started to get to him.
“Because I’m so eloquent and Liam is the opposite of it - whatever that is - I always get nominated to do all the press interviews. I’m working from 11 in the morning ‘til 4 in the morning and it’s a pain in the arse for me. He gets to walk around in stupid clothes, swearing and getting p*ssed. I’ll be frank, if we didn’t get paid as much as we do I probably wouldn’t f*cking bother. I love performing and getting up on stage for an hour and a half, but being on tour with our kid is not a walk in the park.
i just read an interview in time magazine where they asked the edge what songs in the past several years he wishes he had written - i think that's a good question - and interestingly, edge mentioned wonderwall by oasis. have fun chatting up noel!

Ask him if he could possibly talk Dick Ashcroft into having another (another) go with Nick and The Verve.

holy shit man!!
I am so jealous. Ask him when if he will ever play "just getting older" live.
And if he is going solo once this album is done.
Tell him Liam can take care of oasis now. He's a big boy

Just tell him that your going to use your time to give him a break from answering all these dumb questions all day.
Challenge him to see who can drink the most and the first one to slur a word loses.

torr! you must ask noel how did it feel to headline MSG... or ask him what is his best andy bell or gem archer story.

Wow! Torr man, you're living the dream! Honestly.
Please ask him why Stop The Clocks doesn't feature any songs from Be Here Now. It's actually a great album, Noel's disrespect for it is unnecessary.

Ask him:
Is the exclusion of so many of your biggest hits deliberate or just a prelude to Stop The Clocks Part II in the not too distant future?
What is the release date for the new Oasis film?
What do you consider to be the greatest Oasis video so far?

I got one, ask him about a fight he and liam got into in Boston back in 1994/95. For some reason during the openning set by a Boston, Liam threw a bottle at the singer and a huge fight broke out. I've always wondered what the cause was???

VERY jealous Torr.
Ask him if he would consider doing a solo album.

Definitely ask about the Be Here Now omission. so strange. why are they ashamed of it? (other than it came out the same year as OK computer which shamed it entirely)

Be Here Now isn't all that hot..a few good tracks, but some of the guitar veers into bon jovi "dead or alive" territory.
I like their other records though...
Noel ain't that bad, I met him a few times and he is always really pleasant as long as he isn't asked completely off-kilter questions. For some reason though, I think asking him about Be Here Now would annoy him! heheh

I kept hearing rumors that they were going to re-record the album at some point....probably won't happen though.
At least re-record the guitars!

That's quite a get for a Britpop lover.
I'd ask something about Shack. I saw him in the audience at one of their shows back in 2000, and then he signed them to his label.
He's also a big IV Thieves (Nic Armstrong) fan.

ok.. anybody who doesnt think be here now is good is retarded..
granted...there are some songs that go on a bit too long...and its a bit overproduced.. but cmon.. girl in the dirty shirt is amazing!
as is fade n out.. I dont care if it does sound bonjovi-ish..that is johnny depp playing that kick ass guitar at the beginning!!! all hail johnny depp! Torr ask noel how johnny is doing!!
and when did "dead or alive" ever suck? that song still kicks ass even if it is a gay 80's song.

oh yeah.. one more thing.. sotsog sucks way more than be here now!!
sotsog has "who feels love" and "go let it out" and "fucking in the bushes"
and the rest is crap! the b-sides off both albums are amazing though!!
some of the best oasis ever! like stay young, lets all make believe, angel child!!

Torr: You should hit on their plans once they get out from Sony contract and the the deal that brought this Greatest Hits package together. According to this article (http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/entertainment/Oasis+Made+Greatest+Hits+U+turn+To+Escape+Sony+Contract.-23317.html)
they made a deal with Sony to release an album Noel swore up and down he wouldn't release until the band was done just to get out of their contract. I know Noel definitely has to have some mixed feelings about that.
Ask him whether he has been hoarding songs for their debut album on the new label? There was mention of a double album back before Don't Believe the Truth came out, but word had it that Noel canned the idea as he really didn't want to give Sony any more music then he was contractually obligated to. I suspect he's been sitting on some real great songs for awhile awaiting being released from the Sony contract.
Also you should ask whether an actual honest to goodness video compilation is in the works. Oasis have tonnes of videos that have never been seen in North America and have never been available on DVD. If not that they should at least release something similar to the Definitely Maybe DVD they released a couple of years ago. The Verve released a video DVD, why can't Oasis?
